Morning

This is my first visit to this site and I hope that others on here may be able to help with some of my questions regarding landrover's. Hopefully I will not become a nuisance asking lots of daft questions so here goes. I have never had but have always wanted a landrover but living in london could never find a good enough excuse to have one. Within the next 2 years I hope to relocate to new zealand where I will be giving up the city life for a small holding of aprox 3\4 acres. I am currently trying to price various pieces of equipement I will need to mangae the land. I have a question, can any one tell me if there is a landrover that would be suitable for towing small farm equipement. I would love to think that it would be possible to plough area's of land with a landy. Does any one no the answer to this. If it is possible this would help My budget immenseley. Obviously my concern isnt just can i use it to tow a plough but would this affect the ongoing health of a landrover ?

Many Thanks in advance

Thanks for the link, I am a big fan of that website already. yeah have had a look at those and similar, was hoping to be able to utilise 1 vehicle for several jobs. thinking maybe if the landy was up to the job of occasionally pulling a plough would also serve as road transport also towing pigs and the like to market etc and then save me the 2 fold outlay, after all I will definately need transport was hoping to save the double outlay. Just not sure if towning a plough with a landrover would knock the bollocks out of it ? Truth is i know nothing about landrovers other than I love the thought of having one,,lol

series 3,,thats a defender right? what size engine does that have? and how much land you talking about using it on ? my worry is it will knock the stuffing out of it ? but then with only 3 acres or there abouts there wont be a tremendous amount of pulling attachements across it really

You're new here, right?

I don't if prolonged use would affect a landy, but with good maintenance and care during use I shouldn't see a problem. heres a couple of videos that show the power landovers have. After all they are not speed wagons, they are work horses.

I'm pretty sure though if a landy can tow a lorry load of booze or a lorry load of steel girders that it wouldn't have any problem towing a plough. But the chance would be yours to take, try it once if it's to much for the motor then get a fergie or fordson.

Calling a series 3 a defender was a bit of a hint....
it was actually a question:confused:. Trying to find a list of all the models available going back no more than about 7 years then will decide what one is the right one for me. Hopefully with some advice from you guy's

i think there was an article in June LRO comparing a Series 1 with a new Defender doing some ploughing. Didn't see it myself, but the ploughing test was done in the field next door to me.

Thanks for all your input much apreciated. One more question(for now,,lol) what landrover are you guys who have replied to my inital question driving and why ? I myself seem to be leaning toward the defender station wagon 90 but only being a novice im open to any advice. I intend to use both on and off road mostly on but as i said earlier would like to pull attachements over a small piece of land occasionaly do you think this would be a good choice ? would also value your opinions on the discovery. Few people have told me not to go near them they say they are not a real work horse ?
