Our Disco 3 shat itself (busted valvetrain RHS) and I’ve bravely run away from it.

Found a nice Disco 4 owned by a mate and bought it quick, as the wife was using my Defender. Our old Disco was an 07 HSE, and the new one’s an 09 HSE.

1. Only one camera works - is it easy to get replacements? I’ve found lots on ebay, but they might just be generic ones.

2. There’s no fridge in the new one - wonder why they deleted that? Could I swap in the one from the 3?

3. Only a single CD player, too. Again, has anyone swapped in the 6-CD one from a 3?

4. Apparently the FBH can be timed to turn on so the car’s ready - very useful here in the winter. PO said this function doesn’t work, and there’s an ECU somewhere that needs changing. Anyone know where?

5. Would an 09 suffer from oil pump casing cracks?

Cheers

A cheeky question based on 'if you don't ask, you'll never know'!

I have got a D4 and am looking for the cover for the detachable tow bar when it is not in use. It is on the off side of the boot load space, where the cubby boxes used to be fitted in the D2 - I am assuming the D3 and the D4 interior body trim is the same. It is in the region of where the boot cubby boxes used to be in a 5 seater D2. (If you have followed all that!):) I would be interested in it if you do have one.

1, I understand the camera images are pretty poor? also a very rare option.
2, yes I think it fits, there is something about the switdh that is different, cant remember what, but I am sure google will tell you, something like in the D3 no matter what position you leave the switch in the fridge goes off with the ignition, but in the D4 it stays live with ign off, and flattens the battery?
3, no idea.
4, called timed climate, think just needs programming with diagnostic tool.
5, no, but cranks are a major problem, have a google, effects all models with the 3.0 v6

The camera that works is ok, and would have been useful for launching the boat the other week - 180deg reverse, then 90deg the other way, blind side. Imagine reversing round a question mark.

Snapped crank - yikes! I’ll have a google. Keep the oil clean and don’t rag it, I guess.

The correct answer to that conundrum is, buy a bigger boat:)

Sorry it’s taken a while, @derwendolly - this one?

A huge thanks for looking ….. but, That doesn't look like it.
I will take a piccy of the 'gap' where ti should be just as soon as the present heavy shower stops. Mine is a D4 but I am told the internal body is the same as the D3, I am clueless as I have never seen one in situ. All I know it is in the boot and must be larger than what you have shown as the detachable tow bar is big an 'eavy!:).

Piccy to follow …….
EDITED
Piccy pointless as I now see it is supposed to be on the left side of the boot behind a cover, which is also there but this just opens into a large empty space between the plastic boot trim and the inner wing. A vey heavy object moving about freely in a big hole doesn't seem a good idea!

I fink the removeable tow bar is stored in the left hand side cubby box, the foam that holds it is quite rare, if you have rear a/c the storage foam is mega rare.

I have just re-read the handbook which says it is stowed Behind a cover on the LEFT side of the boot for a 7 seater. I've just been out to have a look and there is aplace in the boot where the diagram says it is, and it's got the cover over it but if I take the cover off there is just a cavernous space about the inner wing with no restraint to stop the detachable tow bar just rattling freely around!!! I am now lost!!
What would be helpful is if anyone has a D4 and a detachable tow bar and could either take a piccy or explain where they put theirs. It seems a very heavy object to be just lying loosly and freely in a big hole.:)

Wrap it in an old towel, stick old towel into pillow case and chuck it in the left hole job done.

That is a good idea and probably the one I will give a go at. Why didn't I think of that???????:rolleyes::rolleyes::)

I keep all the old bedding, very handy as dust sheets for machinery covers, stop the wife splattering paint on everything, yet somehow she still manages it!

LR020002 is what I think you are looking for but not cheap to buy new. Some pop up on eBay, just make sure you ask for the two attachment bolts if you go that route.
