Hi guys so after missing my much loved p38 I got an early l322 (not one of my better ideas)
Now I’ve just got a 2006 disco 3 TDV6

with manual gearbox at around 120k miles
My question is I’ve got it with no keys as the old owner has lost them, I’ve done a Hpi check etc etc and all paperwork is correct so there’s no issues there so I’m wondering if I can just call a key man to come and make me a key etc etc (programmed) instead of £298 and a 4 week wait from Landrover, Landrover wasn’t too sure if it needed a new ECU for the new key but ended the convocation saying as it’s an older vehicle he thinks that you can have a certain amount of keys programmed (10 I think) before the ECU needs replacing. Does anyone no if I can just call the key people out to make a key etc etc. The key people are good as they make us the Mercedes lazer keys and code them when our ambulances have “lost keys”
Many thanks

Last mot ran out four years ago.
I would check out the mot fail/advisory history and check all the relevant points before spending a penny on it.

I no the vehicle, it was used for trailer training (trailer test) and wanted for nothing, covid kicked in then they scrapped the trailer test so it wasn’t needed then they lost the keys… finally I was able to buy it. It has been a while but it was perfect when it was parked up.

Unfortunately without the keys, you're going to be in for some fun.
You might be able to get all the locks and relevant coded modules on ebay, so you can swap out the coaded parts. However it's a lot of work, and doesn't always get it running again.
If it were mine, I'd just get my local LR dealer to order me a replacement set of keys.

I don't know what you paid for it, but obviously you won't want to be spending more than if you could have same vehicle with a full complement of keys.

Plus 1 ref the keys in getting the dealer to program one for u , at least then u can program another key considerably cheaper

indeed with regards to it sitting around , hopefully things like the tyres / suspension bushes, air compressor , brake callipers / hoses / brake lines , etc haven't perished or seized up, including things like the AC pump including the condenser/ dryer , nor any damp has got into any of the modules

at least if u can do all the spannering urself will save a fortune , plus when the timing chain / oil pump was last changed

fingers crossed and all the best it works out for u, plse let us know how u get on

PS, hope u don’t mind me adding but would get the steps off as seen where they can become a water trap causing the sills to rust out , including behind the wheel arch liners, seeing it was noted in 2017 ref , surface corrosion nearside and offside chassis
