You know how LR changes part number for the same part over time? My V8 GEMS Cam position sensor used to be called ERR 6169. Then it was called ERR2261 and now its called NSC500610. And its gone from costing under 50 quid to nearly 200!!

I really hate being taken for a mug. Especially if its one of those cases where it turn out the same part's used in say a Ford Transit only with a Ford part code and there it costs just GBP 17.99.

So does anyone know who the actual manufacturer is and what their part code might be? Or if it is indeed used by a different car? I'd be evurrsograteful!

Well FWIW the first type (ERR2261) was made by Honeywell.
The second type (ERR6169) for later P38s - possibly Thor? - was and is made by Lucas.
ERR2261 was later supersceded by NSC500610. Haven't yet found out who makes it (one reason for changing the number might conceivably be that Honeywell is no longer the supplier).

Anyway in the process I came across these people: SMP Intermotor.

SMP EU - Intermotor

some interesting stuff in there.
