Gonna be changing my cam next weekend. Already got the replacement cam. Just want to make sure I've got everything before I dive into it.

From reading up the gaskets I'll need to change are, valley, rocker cover, front timing cover, oil pump.

Are these the only ones or is it good to do others aswell? I'm guessing genuine ones are best, anyone know the part numbers?

Will also change the timing chain whilst I'm doing it, which is a good one to get?

Anything else I should consider?

Cheers :)

use genuine followers not worth playing with aftermarket
if you leave the oil filter attached and dont remove it keep the front cover up right you will not have to pack the oil pump with vassaline!

if worn but probably be allright not easy to fit properly without special fitting tool, and a poorly fitted one is worse than slightly worn

Isn't changing the cam bearings an engine out job?

Once you've got the top end off, and the front end off, it's not too much further to get the block out and do all the bearings, rings, core plugs etc... :behindsofa:

I'll see how worn they are then, if they are really bad I'll change them if not I'll just leave them be. Will certainly make the job easier if I don't have to change them.

So far its going well, to the stage of putting it all back together now. Old cam was pretty worn which I was pleased to see. The bearings were also good so that's another plus.
