Hi guys made a thread the other day asking about whether to use stainless bolts on galvy.

I was told that BZP bolts would be better, does any body know where or if I can get a BZP bolt kit for a 90 chassis swap.

if I cant get a kit does anybody know what size bolts I would need and what quantity of said bolts so I could create an inventory list and get them ready for the swap ?
 
I've just gone and bought a load.
M6 25mm + 35mm I bought loads of these so I had plenty spare for future projects
M8 35mm + 60mm bought about 50 of each, over kill but I got excited
M10 30mm + 130mm these are more expensive so only got about 20 of each, will still have surplus thought

I bought washers, and nyloc nuts to go with each bolt i bought

I also got screw caps instead of hex heads as i think they look nicer.
 
take a wedge of notes to a local bolt supplier n buy boxes.... I have loads and prob 10% of what a so called bolt kit costs...

and I swopped every bolt for 12.9 bzp sockets... far better...and far better looking imho

Yep they are great until they get a few years old, rusted in and the feckers round off trying to undo em!

Normal bolts are better on drive train parts imho.
 
Got to agree that screw cap bolts do look good. But because land rovers are driven off road the head of the bolt tends to get crammed with mud and crud. Meaning every time you want to remove said bolt you have to spent time picking the mud and crud out.
Up to you if you want to go for looks or practicality.
 
I hate any old allen cap headed bolt nearly always a fecker to get off pretty rare nowadays, the new torx **** is pretty much the same, not enough depth for the tool to get a grip on
 
you wont round a 12.9 m8/10/12 .... it will destroy the allen key first.... as for rusting in place... I am fairly certain a copperslipped bzp is going to rust in situ far less than Landrovers originals which took hours to cut chisel n drill out when I stripped to a chassis :)

most of the people who destroy socket caps do so because they have bought 8.8 or lower or worse still stainless steel which round off as soon as you look at em lol

yep they can fill with crud in much the same way as a regular bolt gets covered n needs digging out.... fiddly but not the end of the world

i'm sure time will be the ultimate teller lol

So M6 M8 and M10 will be what I need, and just buy boxes of the fookers ??

To be honest a list of bolt types is what I was after as I was planning on buy a stock of them anyways.

not many m6's .... plenty of m8's (x30 or 40) m10's... yep... m12's a small number.. if u get a good local cash supplier buy a load.. always come in useful :)
