I have a friend who is thinking about buying a Freelander2 and has asked me for advice but I know absolutely nothing about them.

I've read the few threads about buying a Freelander but most of the advice relates to buying older ones. The vehicle my mate has his eyes on still has a year's LR warranty with only 15k on the clock, but he would still like to know what things he should be looking out for.

Shouldn't really be any problems with it at that milage but it is still a Land Rover so anything is possible lol. The thing that kept popping up when I was doing a bit of research before getting mine was the rear diff bearings and power steering problems. I don't think it would be an issue on the newer vehicles. Other than that just make sure everything works as there is a hell of a lot of electrics on it. It might be worth your friend having a look on freel2.com, a lot of knowledgeable folk on there. They are a cracking vehicle.

Dunc.

Rear diff is the main problem, on the newer ones it's an easy fix too. At the first sign of trouble They just change the software so there is less pressure on the bearing.
On the earlier ones the bearing needs replacing.
