Been a long week of work but very happy with the result

I bought my 1985 110 Tithonus almost solely on bulkhead and chassis condition, so hopefully this will keep it that way for many more years to come!

I should get the rebuilt gearbox and Discovery 1.2 transfer box fitted up tomorrow and it will back on the road this week. I am building a 200tdi for it as well but that will be a few months yet, i have a thread going in the engine section.

Nice chassis, but remember they rust from the inside out, get plenty of rust proofing into the box section.
Secondly, if you still have the 2.5 N/A diesel then the 1.2:1 transfer box may be a huge disappointment until you get a TDi in there.
I found that a 1.2:1 transfer box puts 3rd where 5th used to be on the 1.6:1 box, a TDi will pull it, but god help you with a 2.5 N/A diesel.
(300 TDi and power steering was the best thing I ever did to mine.)

Haha thanks very much. Yes I am expecting it to be glacially slow until the 200tdi is in place but from what I understand my military gearbox has lower ratios than the civilian spec anyways so might not be 'too' bad. It will only be for a month or two anyways.

The kit was a large vehicle kit from Rejel and yes the cavities have been well taken care of as well! Only stripping down that was done was the gearbox and transfer box were already out of the car along with the seat boxes / floors etc so access was pretty good

Looks like a proper job does that - glad to read you've done the insides too ;)

Excellent result:)

Yeah, you will really struggle with the 1.2 ratio t/box on the 2.5 NA. It's 1st and 2nd gears only that are lower on the military gearbox. You will find it will be a huge leap from 2nd to 3rd, so you're going to be crawling on any inclines. After I converted to a 200 TDI, I changed to 1.2 and also tweaked the injection pump and added more boost and found that the extra power made a noticeable improvement.
