Built myself a light bar

Had a spare hour an a half at the end of work today so I decided to fabricate up a light bar with some old metal stock I had laying around. What do you think?
Go easy not too much slating please.

They look off center but they're not, it's the angle of the photo.

Hi, I made a bracket that sits in the gutter. The bracket base is threaded and held on with two M5 dome top allen bolts. I used these so that no one can unbolt it when the doors are shut.

Have you considered fitting a water-cooled rear view mirror?

A worthwhile investment........I've never had any overheating issues with mine.....even during periods of frequent glancing

Maybe he could run a hose from the mirror to the radiator .. recycled rainwater. Or does the hosepipe ban extend to movable structures?

It would appear that Series roofs are exempt from ANY type of water ban

More water on the inside than the outside sometimes.
Hmmm yeah the wires, I haven't decided yet. I don't see many options other than a hole in the roof. If I had a snork I might run it down that.
Or maybe under the gutter and behind the door rubber. I hate making new holes if I don't have to.
I have a feeling it's going to have to by a fairly chunky wire too. 4 x 55watts = 220watts divided by 12volts is about 18 amps.

If you go through the roof I'd suggest the more vertical the panel the easier it is to keep (even more) water out.

Hmmm.....18amps, I'm certainly no expert but I've seen 20amp switches. Does that mean they could be wired without a relay?

Technically yes you could. But it's actually much easier and safer with a relay. The relay lets you run a small low amperage cable into the cab. So less risk of big amperage should it short, and the switch will be much smaller. When you get near the max capacity on a switch you tend to find the arcing kills the contacts.
I know what you mean about the vertical panel. I might just drill it. Stick the wire through with a grommet and shove some u-pol panel seal around it.

you could run the spots from full beam feed with a relay... no wires need enter the allrdy leaky interior!

Heheh Super deluxe indeed. It also has the optional but commonly fitted direct short to earth so that every time you turn it on it sparks and blows a fuse.
Actually DiscoMark that's a very good idea. There's no real need to switch them independently. I might hook them up that way.
I'm going to run the wiring through the light bar so no tie wraps needed. The paint went on it today. Satin black.
You know I actually painted that whole land rover last year and I went to do the roof and I changed my mind. For some weird reason I like it tatty looking.
