Ive only had my L322 for 2 days and its lost drive already, private purchase so no warranty, It was going fine and then i stopped and it wouldn't pull away. I turned it on and off a few times and managed to drive a few yards to park it. there are no lights up on the dashboard, HELP

Hi and welcome to the wonderful world of Range Rover ownership! What L322 is it? If it doesn't light up the dash, chime the "bong" of doom, smell of burning or make a nasty clattering sounds then you might be OK with a gearbox service?

Assume automatic gearbox then check the oil dipstick level. If low top with fresh ATF if dirty brown creamy it needs towing service to a garage for drainage and filter replacement. Do you have a rescue service.
Gearbox dipstick? Didn't know the L322 had a dipstick? You thinking of P38.... life is never that simple with L322 ownership.

I picked up an 05 hse earlier in the year as a car to flip for £209, fsh, 12 months ticket and low miles. Problem was the gearbox and limp mode.... free fix solder on the duty solenoid and car has been faithfully in service ever since. Not my favourite vehicle but pretty easy to work on, parts are plentiful and they seem quite robust compared to the opposition such as X trail and other SUV. They need to be looked after well, main problem other than the IRD and prop bearings seem to be exploding turbos but I blame that on poor maintenance and not changing stuff like the turbo filter and engine breather.

:oops:So here's the right answer to check gearbox  Download RAVE if you don't already have it. It will guide you through checking your gearbox fluid.

Darn another one hiding behind the sofa. :D

Oh and 'em' was meant to be 'me'
Me knows, I posted a reply on one thread, thought I was being really helpful etc... OP left the room 6 years previous! Ronniec has moved over to RR forum, just popped up with vehicle info. I will suggest switching off and on again!

Ahhh they've got no staying power these days tenor (1).gif

S/he also needs to know private sale or not, two days in he still has rights.

Technically.. no rights on a private sale unless the buyer can prove seller either misled or advertised the gearbox/drive as good. Buyer beware! I had a two year law case with a buyer due to COVID etc.. in that instance they fixed their original car and then tried to claim the car I sold was faulty due to a flat battery so they could get a refund! Judge threw it out, which was expected and it cost the buyer £600 plus in costs. You have to be very sure of your case before going that route. My golden rule is "expect it to break and pay accordingly" if it doesn't your quids in.
