...unless it's a OEM or Genuine bagged/boxed by Britpart.

Thought I would just refresh this message and keep a fresh result in Google searches for anyone thinking about them!

To be fair some of it is crap and some is okay, research is the key.

I used britpart front callipers on my D3 lots of tales of doom but nearly two years later and a set of EBC greenstuff pads later they are just fine and still have the gold finish!
The cost 45 quid each plus vat I think?

Also got their callipers on my 90, master and wheel cylinders on the series and i mean their absolute cheapest cylinders with zero leaks or issues, the trick with any cheap cylinder is to open it up check the seals then use some red rubber grease after you have fitted the piston to stop the things seizing up.

+1.Some parts don't last long and seem to be inconsistent. I bought a complete silencer for my Defender. Lasted just over one year. Bought another one and it lasted four years. I went through three temp sender gauges within a year. Went elsewhere for the last one. Wheel bearings have been great and so have lots of other parts. definitely research is the key. service has always been most helpful and a good speedy cheap delivery service.

Britpart - the Blue Box Lottery. They do have a place in the market - cheaper parts for cars that aren't worth a genuine part that's 5X the price. But you never know what you're gonna get...

Exhausts - crap
Anything with rubber - crap
Brake pads and discs - fine

Best thing is to ask on here first. Some Britpart stuff is fine, other stuff is shockingly bad.

You do not know what you are going to get with Britpart their quality control is so poor, two people can have totally different reviews on the same part .
Steer clear of the blue box.

You get what you pay for ! ;) there are guys on this forum who cannot afford to pay premium prices for parts ...If you can good luck Mate :)

I rate all makes lower than britpart. I had the full alternator belt and pulleys, failed after four months they replaced them all free of charge with britpart belts and ina pulleys. Research is the key!!

My only moan about Britpart is the way they only deal with trade. I've tried to spend some money directly and they tell me that their local rep will contact me immediately and then doesn't. It's a half hour drive for me to get to their site and three days wasted waiting for someone to call me.

Based on recent experience, I'd agree - i bought some All Makes hinges for the rear door on SWMBO's D1 - bottom one is as you would expect - rock solid, :) and nearly impossible to move without the 4 foot lever that is the door (!!) - top one rattles out of the box o_O :mad::confused::rolleyes: - probably worse than the original that is 21 years old :rolleyes::rolleyes: - I've returned them both - will have to be genuine, cough, splutter

I put their hinges on my new front doors for the rebuild. Like you, without the leverage of the doors, you wouldn't be able to shift them. I oil the b'Jesus out of them and they are still tight. I'm planning on knocking the pins out and looking for stainless replacements. No time soon though :(

A bit unfair in my experience.
Some parts are OK. I have a Britpart driveshaft which cost 10% of the absurd £540 l was quoted at LR. Also the Britpart light switch has been fine, which was £12 against the joke £112 main dealer price.
I wanted to fit an OE front CAT pipe but was quoted £900. The Britpart one was £250 and is working perfectly (just passed the MOT)
However the Britpart rear pipe was rubbish, a poor fit.
The Britpart front Techno cloth seat base at £50 was a better buy than paying £240 at LR and is still like new after 30,000 miles.

l'll fit OE when l can but not at the above prices.

I wanted a pair of front seats to replace my extremely tatty old ones.
Filled in the enquiry form in July last year, and I'm still waiting for their rep to contact me!
The good bit is that in January I had my left wrist and ankle broken when I was run over in a car park, and it will be another 6 months before I can begin to use it again, so I have had to put her in storage until I'm OK again!
At least I now have some time on my hand! ;);)

I think you will find britpart/allmakes/bearmach get their parts from pretty much the same places.

Given the variability of the quality.... or rather the severe lack of same :mad::mad::(, I'd agree.

It's a blinking lottery, with worse odds than camelot's effort

Well, I hope you get better soon, so you have some time on both of your hands. Get your seats done then. :)

They won't be done before then, as I don't want to pay someone else for something I can easily do myself ... when I have some time on my hands! :D:D
