I am doing a search on the web as we speak, Just asking what you lot do

My policy is up for renual and want to add my landy which is a second car toy which an't used much

You folk who are in the same situation do you get cover for yourselfs as a driver in what ever vehicle you are in.
Or cover each vehicle you have

Just asking:D

My dad sorted cover with the AA, which is for my mum, dad, brother and I in what ever cars we are in. That was £127 a year for all of us, which isn't that bad I don't think. Even though if something breaks we usually recover and fix our own cars anyway. But when we go further afield it will definitely be more useful!

Im just reading one that only covers cars up to 6 year old (no good)
ill keep Mooching the web

Who do you bank with??

If you bank with Natwest some of their packaged accounts offer breakdown cover.

We get it on ours at £15 a month along with mobile cover, holiday cover and some other stuff.

Just added a year of Euro cover for £67.

this year I`m with the rac. £101 for me and the wife. this is personal cover, so any car/bike we are in/on. this is to basically get the car back home or to a garage.
I generally have to threaten to leave them every year so as to keep the price down.

aa for me, roadside and relay, 3 of us on the policy and you only need to be a passenger in the car it doesnt even need to be your own car, £99 basrgan

We've got this with our bank (Clydesdale Bank) - used it twice with landy (Ours is through Green flag)
Check the small print!
- they've since added 'cop outs' - Breakdown must be within 10 miles of home and car must be less than 6 years old.
-Pretty pointless if you own a series 3 (always gets further than 10miles and age? - ............well!)

thats what ive seen
And ther is one for cars over 20years where you pay £40 before they come out, cant rember the distance but it aint far

I've called tha natwest green flag out twice...

Once in Devon when I was changing the brake pads and couldn't force the caliper piston back.

T'other time was when UJ gave out on Gabalfa roundybout. Low loader home.

Think its 'unlimited' callouts but they do reserve the right so slap you dahn if you takes the ****!

The really random bit is you get a 10 mile tow to a destination of your choice yet you could opt for a tow to a repairer of their choice anywhere in the UK - so you'd obviously pick the nearest bugger to yer house!!

Obviously, if the UJ had popped in Devon - I'd have gone for the option of their repairer near me house, in order to get the car close to home, then deal with the garage directly.

Here's the full benefits summary from the splatwest webjobby

Roadside assistance – anywhere in the UK
Home-Call – help when your car won’t start
Recovery service – if Green Flag can’t get your car going, they will tow you to a repairer of Green Flag’s choice, no matter how far away- at no extra cost. You can still be transported to a destination of your choice provided it’s within 10 miles of the insured incident.
All your cars protected – as long as the car is registered in your name at your home address, it’s covered
Discounted upgrade option – if you’re going abroad or want to add more cover, you get it for less European cover – add this for £67 a year

Main exclusions
Costs at the garage or repairer – if Green Flag cannot fix your vehicle at the roadside you will be liable for the costs of repair
Additional mileage - Additional mileage - If your car can't be fixed at the roadside, Green Flag will tow you any distance to a repairer of their choice within the UK.

Our family is with the AA - as johnlad says, even covers you if you're a passenger (ideal for my son who's autistic special needs and nowhere near able to legally drive a vehicle yet).
Home start, relay etc.

Diff.

We shop at Tesco and collect the points. The RAC do an offer that, for the last few years, has got me and SWMBO full recovery cover for £40 of Tesco vouchers. Named drivers so any vehicle.

They happily recovered the Rangie off the M4 last New Year's Eve and the man in the van even managed to bodge up the burst cooling hose - got us to Perth and back before I replaced it.

When I say that they 'happily' recovered us what I meant was that they were watching me from their control tower and told me that it was too dangerous and they refused to let any of their patrols near me. They arranged to have the motorway closed whilst a flat bed picked the Rangie up. So if any of you were held up on the M4/M5 junction last New Year's Eve - I'm sorry.

Beware of GEM. Just looked at their EU offering...

Just a smudge under 350 quid!

As has been mentioned... check the small print and all combinations of cover that you may require.
