break problem?

so driving with the stero off today and noticed my breake peddle was making pppfffttt type of squelcing sound not noticed this before so had alook at it when i got home and cant tell if its the peddle linkage or fluid and air breaks seem ok but as its my first rr nothing to compare against light to press at first and as you go down the peddal stroke it gets firmer is this normal

I wouldn't worry about that mate, both my 4.0 and 4.6 do that.
