Hi I need help. As overhauling entire vehicle its had new bearings calipers discs pads and new stainless b=raided brake lines. all good so far. have a nanocom so bled manually then bled the actuator 6 - 7 times then bleed all round by the nanocom. I also had to replace the alternator just mentioning due to vacuum. Problem is brake pedal pumps omce to harden up. Tried to activate. ABS as seen posts where that has worked but cant lo0ck the wheels due to new pads etc bedding in. I have checked the servo and no fluid in there. There are no leaks and doesn't appear to be a loss of fluid. Is this just a bleeding issue or is the master knackered? not too sure what to do now as no error codes on anything.

Hi, first of all it's not supposed to be hard, it's supposed to actuate the calipers and any brake pedal would get harder once pumped stationary as there are expansion chambers within the modulator. Drive test it and see if it has good braking action or not and if it has quit pumping it just to feel a hard pedal... if it doesnt brake well then we'll speak again

btw did you bleed the lines in the correct order as in the book?

Hi

test driven it yesterday and it does stop but brakes still not quiet right but guess its just bedding in? read some stories where the pedal improves as brakes settle down. I did bleed the modulator via the nanocom and also power bled all in the rave order. Totally out of ideas and time and energy.

As long as you feel safe with how it's braking you can rest your mind, not much to do more... as i said there are expansion chambers within the modulator... though if the master cylinder is old that can worsen things cos once the back pressure from the system was released the seals can be hurt as untill pressure is restored those seals are passing beyond the edge of the internal wear along the piston's normal travel if you see what i mean... this is very common with clutch cylinders and the principle is the same

yes thinking I need to change the master cylinder then have to re bleed again. should have changed this and serviced the actuator as well seeing as I renewed the remainder of the system and also new turbo new exhaust manifold upgraded intercooler. New suspension all round so really need it to stop well. Will get the master cylinder changed and see if thart solves the soft pedal issue. But no brake fluid in the servo as checked that yesterday. Thanks for your help. Paul
