Brake Pipes

The problem is you dont know if any po has modded your motor and moved gear/pipe runs etc so made up kits may not fit.

Im sure if you bought the 3/16 kunifer and some nipple nuts either 3/8 or 10mm (again you wont know what a po has fitted) and cut the pipes to the length you want your local garage would flare the ends for you cheap enough.

Pipe flaring is actually quite easy, its just people like to make it sound more than it is.

Ive got an old sykes puckavant flaring kit that does many sizes, available on ebay for about 40 quid.

Its a skill worth having and can get you out of the poo many times.
If you are good enough to fit your own brake pipes then you are defo good enough to make your own.

In my 45 years of motoring, I have only ever changed brake pipes once. Unless you are buying rust buckets, it's not really worth having all the kit to make up up your own pipes. For the odd occasion where a pipe needs replacing, it's easier to let the garage do it.

Ive done a few always on older land rovers! not due to rot but seized calliper nuts so had to cut pipe to get calliper off, or the same with the rigid pipe to the flexis, others were due to damage off road.

Inspected an 11 plate Transit the other day with rotten pipes.

I've just made up mine for first time and it's very simple with the kit I used. I used kunifer and a kit recommended by members and all went smoothly

I bought this. The quality is great. Scooby fitment was correct for d1 but double check fender. D1 is 3/16 pipe with m10 x 1 unions. No hassle at all. Cut the pipe square with the cutter supplied, brush the end with a file then put in die. You then use a stopper to set pipe in the die, clamp pipe in place, remove stopper and screw in the flare maker bit.

The pre made kit does look good though. Depends if you want the bits to do yourself in future I guess. I like to hoard tools I won't use again for a long time lol
