Don't you just love Discoveries, owned it 5 months and have had a bill every month ! My XYZ switch is playing up, but that will gave to wait as, I filled up with diesel yesterday and realised that the brake pedal was spongy and if you left it down long enough it went to the floor. Checked for leaks and nothing obvious. Assumed it was master cylinder as it still seemed to have brake fluid. Started yesterday and brake light on dashboard came on and no brake fluid in mater cylinder reservoir. So have I failed to find the leak or is the master cylinder broken. Any help greatly appreciated as I have already spent a small fortune.

that brake fluid must have left the system somewhere though...double check for leaks all the way down... there could be a caliper or brake hose near the caliper leaking and then it's not so visible with the wheels on

plenty of advice on re-furbing XYZ switches on here ...

Thanks for all the advice, I will check the mc tomorrow and then Start taking the wheels off one by one to check calipers. Thanks Dippypud about the xyz switch, I am going to try a refurb as I have no cash for a £400 new one.

Well, having spent a couple of hours trying to find the leak at each of the brakecalipers, I then stuck my head right underneath and found niagra falls! The brake pipe, replaced 5 months ago is leaking, I can not even get close enough to see what has caused it but I am guessing it has been rubbing and has worn through. Thank goodness my wife was not towing the horsebox when this went.

thanks for all your help.

Who did you manage to get one from at £165 inc VAT? I have tried a few people but they are all between £350 and £400.
