Brake Pad sensors

Ok I have "check brake pads and the warning light on dash
replaced pads and tried in much vain to replace the sensor cable but it just wont plug in at all the old one went in and out ok but the new one was a no go to the point I have ended up butchering to the point of no return both plugs to try and get it connected so have decided not to have sensor connected im guessing that when the pads wear the sensor in the pad shorts out and the warnings are triggered. so if no sensors are connected will the warnings and lights go away or will they stay on like they are do I need to clear the faults?

if the old one fitted okay then could the new one you have possibly be the wrong ones ??

looked inside and it seemed to look the same I huffed and I puffed but no way even when all I had was the two small pins and the sockets still no go so give up do you have to have sensors on?

sounds odd.

when my pads were changed, i got the the sensors changed too, the new ones went into place just fine. and they were aftermarket / non genuine sensors

No issues when I changed mine last year either...

You'll need them connected to cancel the warning...it works on a 'break' to bring the warning up iirc....

if you cut the end off the old ones and plug in, that may do a botch..
I changed my rear pads early to avoid cost of sensor...

I changed my pads and as the rear sensor is so long and an a*se to fit i just twisted the wires on the end of the pad sensor.

No yellow triangle.....until next week anyway when something else will fail

when you say twisted do you mean to make a connection of the two wires? in other words bear the 2 wires and put together like you would joining wires together? so you no longer have a sensor connected to the wires, or you connected the new sensor to the old wires to the plug?

As the old sensor snapped off in the pad, it left two wires exposed. So complete the circuit by joining the two wires together either by soldering or just twisting.

hey presto, no faults.

lovely,,, don't forget to use some garish red insulation tape to totally conceal your bodge...

No wonder these poor range rovers have loads of electrical faults !

To be honest I think the brake pad sensors are pretty crap quality for a Range Rover.

Most brake wear indicators are designed just as a warning, L322 brake wear indicators are designed to empty your wallet as they break on contact so have to be replaced. Beyond a joke

Hardly break the wallet at £6 each
Only two of them lol
