There appear t be 3 types of brake modulator for the P38A. One for no traction control, one for rear traction control and 1 for all 4 wheels traction control.

However, there is another variable to throw in the mix: whether it is a manual or automatic box, because the clutch on the manual plumbs into the side of the modulator and shares the same fluid.

So, is the hole for the manual on all the modulators but with a blanking bolt? Or do you have to drill a hole? In which case, I'm guessing you'd have to be pretty damn careful no swarf ended up inside. Or are there in fact 6 different modulators?!
 
You'd think so, wouldn't you?

I'll try and have a look at an auto next time one passes and compare.

Will have a look at mine in the morning and let you know. Possibly just a union molded into the tank, opened up for the manual and left closed for the auto. Will have a look tomorrow. :);)

Well, that's an easy one. I wonder why Emmotts make such a fuss about it?

That stubby closed off bit of plastic pipe that comes out bottom of the reservoir on the engine side, on the manual that has a bit of rubber pipe with a clip at each end that goes to the clutch master cylinder.

So, for conversion to manual a sharp knife or hacksaw to cut the end off is required. To convert manual to automatic just block the pipe back up with a bolt or something.

Simple but effective.

Well, actually, yes.

I was expecting a metal pipe screwing into the metal part of the modulator or maybe a T-piece metal adapter to screw into, either using a screw in blanking plate for the automatic. Somewhat more expensive I'll grant you.

Over-complicating matters, as usual.
