i dread to think what it's going to look like after a 17 year old has "done it up"

I am slaming my series on da floor! blue neon, 22" with spinners, massive sound system

Good luck with it ;) I am 16 myself, unfortunatly my dad has not bought me a 90 with a 200Tdi in it so i have to rebuild my series :)

You lucky little sod!, go buy your dad a 24 pack of his fave beer NOW!!! seriously though thats one hell of a prezzie! good engine, easy enough to work on. You could do a lot worse ;)

Nah i mean like offroad, Snorkel, Lift kit, Winch, Winch bumper, Y'no just generall things like that
It looks really good, if your dad needs anyone else to buy prezzies for point him my way:)

'Scuse the lecture, but do spend wisely though, we see a lot of young'uns who spend too much on unneccessary kit - then the car owes them too much when they need to get rid. Don't say you'll never sell it, cos you will, and you should consider your spend on the car in that light.

If you want an off road shed you don't mind damaging sell your nice little 90 now and get a serviceable 15 yr old discovery.

If you want something very capable get mud tyres, snorkel and front diff guard - but also give the truck a fettle. You've got a lot of time to do this. Also consider waxoyling it, whizz off the propshafts too, learn how to replace the UJs, check the swivels, replace the suspension bushes, fettle the engine, etc. Do these now or you'll be playing catch-up after the first few times off road - the accelerated wear and tear will take you off the road. (Landys are very good at keeping on running and storing up their troubles).

And on a less serious note - to get the full 'professional expert'* off road look add these to your list...not...
  • Loads of cheap, sharp edged chequer plate, ensure you have some on every panel - even the roof.
  • 4 inch lift - it's very important that you compromise the vehicle's every day driveability, safety and transmission reliability on a 90 which already has superb approach and departure angles (and the under-axle clearance will still be 10" after you've lifted it).
  • If you paint it orange, or buy any component which is orange, it will be better off road than it's non-orange counterpart (even more than Camel T(oe)rophy sandglow)
  • You must have and wear a hi-vis jacket, camo trousers and a Land Rover leather hat whenever you drive your Landy. (NB the hat is an indication that you are a sheep).
  • If you have a dog starve it to increase its aggressiveness, brush it with engine oil and use a bit of twine instead of a lead
  • One life live it sticker - de-rigeur, must have, don't dare go anywhere without it.
  • The crowning glory is a non-structural roll cage made from gas pipe which surrounds the body and wings.

Enjoy;)

*the Professional Expert look is to Land Rovers what the Max Power look is to superminis. Just because it can be done doesn't mean that you should.

go join a alro afiliated club use it for non damaging trials and learn to'drive if properly, when the afore mentiined blinged up motors turn up you will **** on their parade with a well maintained 90 well thought out 90.

Not to be pedantic but its a 90, not a defender......

Please dont molest it mate it looks awesome, chequer plate will ruin it
