Boot floor..

Do a search ffs!

Tratterboy in peace (and pieces)...been offered a really cheap disco 1 thats failed the mot on the usual boot floor rot.

Now he's offered it to me with a replacement boot in the price..i need a ballpark figure of what its gonna cost to fit as i have no space/time/energy/know-how..so, how many hours labour is this?

is it just floor,usual every other bit of steel around ,wheel arches ,crossmember etc is poor under the under seal,theres a good days work if everthing around is sound and seat belt bolts undo

He says theres a couple of 5p size holes on inside of each door arch..he's a fair way away from me otherwise i'd have a look..but tbh, if its really bad then i can get my money back by selling the engine alone...thats not my plan...i've been toying with the disco idea for a while.

boot floor should not fail the mot so no big problem but the rear wheel arch rust can lead to hidden work behind plastics and under wheel arch which can be more of a pain to work on,as James has said boot floor remove rear seat and seatbelts drill out 180 spot welds bla bla a days work if everything goes well and it doesn't usually

Ok...well i can get it out myself easily enough then...just get someone to spotweld it..might take a punt on it..cheers for info.

Lateral thought - why not get a quote from a good independent near to the vendor (or a mobile welder if its capable of being done mobile ). If the numbers work get it done there, if they don`t work then you still have your break for bits option. If they work and you get it done you could even get it retested locally and drive it home....... ?

Good thought, but he wants it moved, i would get it sorted local to me. I hear Sirus is good at welding, but he moved to denmark and wont return my calls. Odd.
