What are the wires called in this pic?

Are they any good?

Can they be bought ready to go or are they a 'make them yourself' job

Cheers

Are they going to the roof rack? - Guess they are

I'd make then up myself - just go to a boat shop, and pick up some stainless cable, thimbles and clamps and make them up!

I dont have a roof rack so im thinking about putting them up to the rails on the sides of the roof!

I mainly want them for deflecting any branches and what not away from the snorkle (When fitted!)

Cheers guys

Don't bother you'll just direct the branches straight onto the snorkel if the wires end below the top of the snorkel. & they have a nasty habit of trapping the branch under the wires and bending the bonnet or smashing the windscreen. Much easier to just stop and cut the offending branch off the tree.

... for which you really need the height of a roof rack to actually clear the snorkel.

TBH, bushwires are a bit of a liability. We had a set on an S3 and they really didn't help on any green lanes we went up. I guess they're fine in the Amazon or other Jungle terrain, but not for UK, I reckon. ;)

Cheers mate thats a good point, maybe they are more trouble than what i first though, cheers

bush wires, also illegal to use on the road btw

Not sure that is true......
I always believed that, but I know a guy with an ex Camel trophy defender which has them fitted "from the factory" the owner checked with the DVLA and was, apparently told they are perfectly legal.

Not sure I fancy a manslaughter charge if you chop someones head off in an accident though.

Problem arises when some snotty plod stops ya and is looking for something to justify the stop. Tis an offence to have an item attached to a vehicle which may cause injury or be a danger to another road user. Something that bush wires can clearly do. Hey presto plod has something to do you for. he's happy your not. result for plod.. :(

surely having an engine fitted will cause the vehicle to go faster, thus causing injury or a danger to the ****ed up prick in the middle of the road on a saturday night?:D:D:D

a winch'll only cause my vehicle to go faster if all forward motion has been lost. I don't think it'll go fast enough to kill em though.

depends how many peeps are pulling on it at the time.

And a bullbar definately won't cause it to go faster.:D:D:D

Bush wires I have been told were legal mine went through an MOT with them and I turned up to a HGV examiners place of work to see him and all he said was better attach those to a stronger point than the wing cos I've seen the "bushes" you try and drive under! (He came trialling with me once, dented the roof but I got further than all the modifieds on that section with a roofrack albeit slightly re positioned rearward) When I asked if they were legal he said they are ok but don't go cutting any cyclists in half or they will moan like fook.
