Patched up inner arch and footwell this weekend to discover that the body mounts/out riggers?? under front footwells need doing? Any threads on this job and the severity of it? Cheers boys.

It's getting access isn't it. Recip saw doesn't ax actor give neat cut. Would have to get in to clean up. How difficult is it to raise body from chassis? Can this job be done by just cranking it up a few inches? I really don't know.

the only other option i was thinking was a air chistle to cut old one off and use some sort of air driven wire brush(or sand blast the area) to clean rear of cill so new one could be welded on (provided it ant all rotten) there is only one nut accessed by floor holding it to outrigger so that ant no problem to get to !

So ur going to try an do it as it is? Just cut old one out and replace. I can see the area being rotten to death and cleaning up and welding a no go.

Do you mean the body mount at the front of the foot well visible from the engine bay at the bottom of the bulkhead or the one just in front of the seat (front of sill).

Both are available from YRM as replacements but if it is the sill one I would expect that you will need more than just the body mount as by the time that goes the rest of the sill is normally dust!

^^^^^as above, pics needed^^^^^^^^

It must be bad to be talking about replacing the whole outrigger. Can't you plate it?

Lifting the front body is possible but you won't gain much for the time taken to do it. You could just lift that side and gain perhaps three inches. Oh I wish I could gain three inches, it would stop me ****ing all over my fingers..........

Riggers ok just mount 'housing' sills are surprisingly pretty good. It's the ones under footwells. Rest are ok.
U know this seam sealer. Does warming tube first help coz it's bloody thick.

You can get these mounts from YRM METALS. I used them and they are a good company.

I used tiger seal and another product but as it was summer I was fine. I wouldn't have thought it would do any harm at all. In fact when changing my gearbox fluids the other month, I sat the oil cans in a bucket of hot water to help and it worked a treat.

yu have pm

Jesus some of that rust is bad. Mine looks new compared with that. To be honest if I had time an use of another vehicle then I would like to replace the lot like that but I just don't have time or a place to do it. Patch up jobs will have to do u til it is no longer possible. Ha

Had a look at that yrm website. Impressive. They do the lot don't they. But I think next time round ill be purchasing a land rover that has already had some fool do all this b*llox.

Wheres the fun in that ??:hysterically_laughi

the last time I did a front body mount, the floor was on its way out, so I cut a big hole.amd did it from the top. didn't replace it tho, I cut what I could out and repaired it, hammerited it then suck a new plate on the floor and sealed it up

I'm trying to do mine too. Got the box section sorted but this weather sucks big time lol. Good tip about the front body mount through the floor as mine is bad might as well open it up for easy access then a new plate :)

Snow in January? Hardly unbelievable. I had to do this 18mths ago, but also had to replace floor so a bit easier. Still a ballache though. But what FUN these LR's are! hehehehe

Rarely snows in the Liverpool. Only seems to be when I crawl underneath the bloody thing.
