It look's the bollox mate, and Matt Black is the way to go :D
Dont worry to much what other's think about it, there are some right self righteous ****ers on this site

Looks good. Only comment I have is- when the rear wheels are on full articulation up in the wheel arches will the wheels (tyres) rip off the rear cross member? Looks like there might be a clearance issue going by the piccies, especially if you put bigger tyres on.

Cheers for the comments people, and gratch, I was thinking exactly that earlier!! But the crossmember/bumper is in live with the very back of the wheel arch, so hopefully it will just clear it! If it doesn't, out comes mr. Angle grinder to slice and dice until it works. ;)

Looks like fun,

Personally I don't see the pont of cutting the back end shorter than the front afterall you will have to get over somthing before the back end drops off 90 Percent of the time and it looks really neat and factory if done with the same overhang. Anyway keep up the work Its not my thing but you love it so who can knock you for that.

thanks guys :) jai_landrover , i see your point, buuut as when its lifted there is left over hang on the front that there is originally on the back, there is a reason i havent done it the same front and rear. because when i get my grubby mitts and my r380 stumpy gearbox and move the engine back 2inch and down 2 inch (if not more ) then i will lost the viscous fan and move the rad etc etc back around 4 inch, then shorten the whole front end the sme as the back, so once completely finish, it will look factory :) . a lot of things i do dont seem to be other peoples thing, i thinkim just strange :D shes getting sprayed tomorow, the final paint design is now as follows
mattblack doors,wings,mirrors and rear section
lime green bonnet, roof and boot, wheels, door handles. so it should be pretty lary :)

Just so everyone knows, my name is badger and I am a bloke!! Dolly is my discos name :) didn't get any pictures today, but I am spraying it tomorow so no doubt I will have shot loads of pictures to upload! The scheme is roof, bonnet and tailgate in my lovely lime green, wheels lime green and badges and rest of the body matt black. Oh and a lime green grill ;)

S.V.A go get ya Q plate ;)

Vehicles that have been rebuilt using a mix of new or used parts
In order to retain the original registration mark:

•cars and car-derived vans must use:
The original unmodified chassis or unaltered bodyshell (i.e. body and chassis as one unit - monocoque); or a new chassis or monocoque bodyshell of the same specification as the original supported by evidence from the dealer or manufacturer (e.g. receipt).

And two other major components from the original vehicle - ie suspension (front & back); steering assembly; axles (both); transmission or engine.

If a second-hand chassis or monocoque bodyshell is used a car must pass an Individual Vehicle Approval (IVA) and light goods vans must have a enhanced single vehicle approval (ESVA) or single vehicle approval (SVA) test after which a "Q" prefix registration number will be allocated.

•motorcycles must use:
Unmodified frame (original or new) and two other major components from the original vehicle; forks, wheels and engine or gear box.

If a second-hand frame is used the vehicle must pass a motorcycle single vehicle approval (MSVA) test after which a 'Q' prefix registration number will be allocated.

I see you rpoint .BUT because it is not a monocoque chassis/ shell there is a loophole, because the original suspension/drivetrain mountings have not been modified and it is only the body that has been shortened,in effect it is the same as taking a defender, removing the rear cab and fitting an ifor williams back. There fore it does not need an sva nor a q plate, it only needs a vic test to check that the body is structually sound and that the rear cross members etc are of sufficient strength :) I love loop holes :D

nope you cut the chassis ;) no loop hole trust me ;)

you cannot shorten or lenghten a chassis and keep your original number plate, been looking into this myself.

its like a mine field, read the highlighted section of text again, thinking ' i cut 12" of mi chassis'

Saying that, I've just done a bit of badgering about, seems going by this list, if you score 8 points then I can avoid an sva
5 points for UNMODIFIED chassis frame (repairs back to original spec ok)
2 points both axles
2 points suspension
2 points steering
2 points gearbox
1 point engine
zero points for the body.

I have kept everything original other than losing the rear over hang . So in effect I scored 8 points, BUT just to be on the safe side, I will call them on tuesday and ask them :) will let you all know what they say, if I have to q plate it, then so be it. :)

you have shortened the chassis, how is this unmodified?

Just hope the ministry agree with you then, and they aren't awkward.
