Blue smoke from front downpipe

Hi, could anybody offer some advice please?

I have a facelift td4 (2005) This morning on startup and after about a minute or two blue smoke started pouring out from a front down pipe on the nearside. After turning off the ignition and removing the key it was like a motor was still running and the smoke continued to come out for about another 30 seconds and then the motor noise stopped.

The car started okay and sounded good on tick over

Any help please really appreciated?

Sometimes we tend to think far deeper than is necessary. I knew nothing of an FBH and now feel a little stupid. Handbooks are there for a reason and we shouldn't wait until all else fails before reading them!

I am glad I have not got one on this car because on the other car I got fed up with it running on and on wasting over priced fuel.
