hi guys

please help im losing the will to carry on with my 1996 300tdi disco.

problems are as follows

high pressure in header tank
heaters hot / cold intermittent
struggling to bleed system
top hose from rad cold

things ive tried so far

changed thermostat
changed temp sender unit
replaced bootom y hose from header to radiator
chaged both heater matrix hoses
water pump inspected all ok
checked bypass valve all ok
filled system through thermostat housing
filled system through radiator

took her for a drive today after taking water pump off to check and refilling system through the thermostat housing and radiator, ran great for about 10/15 mins at about 60/70mph (heater hot and temp guage normal), then heaters went cold and temp guage stated to rise, when i got back home i opened the bleed valve (b&q type) on the top of thermostat housing and hot water poured out like a jet wash, then i opened the header tank and hot water spewed out under loads of pressure??

any ideas what to try next?

im certain its a blockage of some sort?

ive read loads of posts on here but nothing really has the same symptons well not that ive found?

thanks as always

tony

if top hose never gets hot thermostat isnt opening ,if rad doesnt get hot all over rad needs replacing,300tdi isnt difficult to fill or bleed as long as rad bung thermostat housing bung are overflowing and tanks full thats it ,sounds a lot like head gasket might be leaking slightly

turns out it was head gasket, all done now.

had it skimmed and valves re-seated, all good.

just goes to show always believe in landy zone advice, I was in denial for a couple of weeks!!

just starts like a bag of nails now and pumps out white smoke out of exhaust?

thanks for all your advice guys!!
