Hook,

I can see from your post, and previous ones, that you are obviously intellectually challenged and struggle with the english language.

There was no insinuation whatsoever and also I believe that you are assuming that there was an insinuation.

Whether this is because you have been accused of thieving in the past, or you have a low self asteem problem, I am not sure, but I firmly believe that the problem is yours and yours alone.

Hope you have a great night

Take care now

Steve.

Just re-read the thread and it does seem that Steve wotisnumber is a little sensitive. Perhaps he's missed his period... I find that always results in someone getting all antsy over nuthin...

I am concerned about his use of the English language, however, and I do feel that since he is presenting himself as the epitome of the british wordsmith culture, he might learn to spell.

It worries me that he needed to edit his post three minutes after posting in order to get to the point where "esteem" was still misspelt.

Such a shame... especially since I rather agreed with him and I also remove my reg number from most photographs. Not through any self poofed up sense of saving my vehicle from being stolen or anything... simply because I really do not want the local plod to know whose vehicle it was parked in the off license window!

Ryder, the improvement in your grammar since your last post containing "soooooo" and "abooot" is simply outstanding. And I thank you for picking up my spelling mistake. Thanks fella ;)

On a more serious note, there is a post entitled "Cloned Vehicle" in the stolen vehices section. When y'all read this, you may understand why I asked my original question.

I bought my defender about 6-8 weeks ago now off a genuine guy near where I live.

I had a visit from the police on Friday morning. Apparently my car is a clone. It was stolen around a year ago and transferred onto the plates of another older defender that I presume went to the scrap yard.

In theory I loose the car, it goes back to the insurance company and I loose the money I paid for it too. I did a HPI check based on the number plate and the VIN plate under the bonnet. Both of these were fake, so there is nothing the HPI people will do for me.

I have informed the insurance company that I would maybe be interested in buying the truck off them. Taking to account that it will be a newer reg, but also that it will be a Cat D, will have no history, no MOT. insurance will cost more etc. They said that an arrangement could be reached and if I submit receipts for anything I have done to it since I purchased it these would be subtracted from their valuation.

I really don’t know what to do though.

Any advice greatly received !! I am absolutely gutted ! Feel like crying.

Perhaps those of us who intend to keep our vehicles should post our registration numbers and locations on the site. Bet I wont be the one feeling like crying. :mil61::mil61::angel::violin:

doesnt support your question at all.

Ummmm ok.
so they cloned another landy by copyin its reg number. By looking at a picture they happened to find online that matched the stolen one.......

Or they copied the plates of a landy parked in tesco car park... whats the difference??
(Other supermarkets are avaliable)

still dnt see why if you drive around your local area and park outside your house with your plates on display why u feel the need to blank them online??

why are our posts hotlinking brand names? eg Tesco, and saw a thresad yesterday with Dell linked.
Lets try some more, Sainsburys, Sony, Durex, Toshiba, Martini

I think the reason people blank out plates so others can't go on the DVLA website and type the Reg to find its been stolen  Umm I think big website names work like Amazon, Google, Youtube. Not sure probably not.
