Hi all, don't laugh, I was towing a caravan and got stuck behind a bus on an up and downy road. I got a bit fed up after 10 miles so I saw my opportunity and caned my disco, got past the bus and checked the mirror to pull in and saw black smoke billowing out of the exhaust. This was the first decent run it has had for a year and I have been trying out veg oil at only 15% solution although there was none in the tank at the time. Since the incident I just get an occasional puff on start up and take off, but nothing like when I overtook the bus. Was it just clearing sh#t out of the system or do I need to look further and if so where to start. Over to you lot, give me some inspiration please.

I recon I'll stick some injector cleaner through it an see what happens, thanks for the feedback.

MMMmmm No wot yer mean Mate! Nowt worse than gettin stuck behind a caravan following a bus on a country road is there:rolleyes: .
Welcome and i hope you get it sorted:D

Yup, I've done the speed thing, fast cars n bikes, scaring old grannies blah blah and when you reach a certain age you decide theres more fun in holding people up as long as possible so I bought a series 3 and then a caravan, must take my tablets now ......

I wouldn't look at the Bio-Diesel as a reason for the smoke, if anything this would reduce it, because bio won't cause black smoke.

Diesels will smoke if given the foot, especially if towing, reason being is the overfueling effect, and the engine not getting to the point it can utilise this fuel...

On the topic of holding people up, what is with the people that sit right behind you on the Motorway, then shoot past you at the first oppertunity then sit right infront of you and don't go anywhere?
