I ordered a pair of front crank oil seals for my landy under the impression that they were bearmach but on opening the bag they are in britpart bags !

Im sure not all of britparts bad press is deserved but they seem to get quite a bit

The seals themselves are marked bjs and have the landrover part number stamped in (err4575/err4756) they look ok but are these quality seals as i dont want to do the job twice !

Thanks

Britpart is a wholesaler rather than a manufacturer and they distribute a lot of stuff made by other manufacturers, including genuine land Rover items. A bit like supermarkets, it's their own-brand stuff that's most likely to be disappointing. I don't know about those particular seals but they certainly could be a more expensive make that has merely passed through Britpart Central at Craven Arms on its journey to the end user.

Thanks for the reply ,i was hoping to find the source of these seals before i fit them ,they do look good quality

On a light note i assume err4756 (the bigger of the two) goes on the timing cover as it has no spring like a normal oil seal so must be just a dust seal
