bite the bullet time

if you have read any of my previous threads on the td6 gearbox,it now looks like its time to bite the bullet.
now looking for a local specialist in co.durham or surrounding areas to fix the box.
it has got worse since i changed the gearbox oil.forward drive is virtually non existant.
any help greatfully taken

I'm sure JM will be around in a second but if clutch packs have gone I believe you can change them over.

what does diagnostics say ??

when i first put the hella on it had a few faults which i cant remeber all.cleared the latest ones which were inplausable signal for 1st and second gear.cleared them and they havent returned.i am sure they will.
dont have access to autologic

from your PM it sounds like the box has suffered the usual gearbox failure

My local Indy landrover garage in Cumbria uses a guy in Newcastle for fixing gearboxes. I'll give them a ring in the morning and see if I can get his name and a tel no. for you, if you want.

I'll give them a ring in the morning, they use this guy in Newcastle all the time and rate him highly.

The symptoms you describing sound like the torque convertor may have given up on you

Personally I would advise not to drive anymore as you want to reduce risk of costly internal damage due to swarf

My own experience was to replace the TC BEFORE it disintegrated and as such I had no further internal damage

Good luck with your repair and again - do no more driving, get it recovered to a repairer

its not being driven.that was just to get theoil up to temp.it wont move.
do i try getting away with a tc and flush again,cleaning oil pump and block out or get it repaired.
if i could get it running with just tc replacement i will get it fixed properly in a month or so.its the heavy load of christmas bareing down.

best to get a proper job done.

probably needs a new oil cooler if the ****e has been pumped round the system

all depends on internal damage extent.

best not to even run the engine !

Bin on the phone to my Indy this morning, unfortunately the guy they use in Newcastle doesn't do the auto boxes, only manual gearboxes, as they can be too troublesome.

They did mention a (good) garage/bloke in Newcastle that does auto boxes, and the L322 GM boxes, but they've never used him before. My Indy guys just prefer to get a 'new' gearbox direct from LandRover, as it comes with a 2 year guarantee and has been built from scratch, so the chances of failure (or re-failure) are significantly lessened.

I will PM you the address for the guy in Newcastle, may be worth a phone call at least.

Try advance transmissions in stockton, been there a long time, sure they could give you some advice, I'm sure any big gearbox place will have experience with these gearboxes as its pretty common, try searching 'gearboxes' on yell.con, should return a few companies to start getting some advice, over on fffrr they say you need a new sonnax valve block aswell, cheapest for new box supplied with modified valve block is about £1700+vat I think, not sure how true this is as when I bought mine it has had a reconditioned gearbox with new torque converter 8k miles ago and the total cost inc labour was £2000 but according to some people mine will fail again because it hasn't got the modified valve block good luck it's a mine field
