i've been running my freelander td4 on bio thats from the pump locally - its not strictly bio - its a 95% 5% mix and it runs fine - not had the courage to go 100% bio though (for a start I can't be a*sed to make the stuff)

well the pump prices in hull don't reflect the fact the local company producing it gets a tax break on the veg oil part.
supposed to be able to run engine on 50% veg oil 50% regular diesel dare you to try

probably been asked before but i cant be bothered to search....

anyone running a TD4 on bio?

will a TD4 run on bio?

what can happen if i try?

Look up Ming's posts...you'll find shedloads on there.

"dunt know why, just says dunt do it, do user manuals ever give a reason?"
Wiggles, think it's to do with bio rotting fuel pipes if yer run it at much more than 50%? Stand to be shot at by Mingys intergalactic warhammer/rocket/laser jobby if I'm as normal talkin bollox...:p

correct. . . . .

Kinda and Kinda not so much... the later L Seires also use a Bosch VP37 which after much..much digging isn't very different for the Cp1 used by TD4's :

Bosch VP37 is the electronic version of the EP-VE, and shares the same pumping mechanism.

As these (Bosch VP37) are basically mechaniclly the same as the EP-VE, they are fairly suitable for veggy use, but as there are some electrical components like actuators and position potentiometers, it must be kept in mind that any fuel used must be free of moisture....

If the Bosch on the L is susceptible to erosion with bio, then I'd bet good money the same type of seals etc on yer td4's "Bosch" are gonna be humped at some point to :)

VW, Puget's etc that all use this pump have proven to be excellent fur it.. Bio i mean..not the getting humped part :)

not so much the pump more the fuel lines [older type rubber ] can be shot away very quick by bio . . .on the td4 everything is geared for bio as quite a few european derv has about 5% bio anyhow [helps to stop waxing] ,the only weakness in the td4 is the rear fuel pump. . . .so if you add your own [bio or veg oil] don't go over 40% and all will be fine. . . . .
