Freelander 2 (LR2) ap200 key programming i bought an autel ap200 and tried to programme a new key but it only comes up with a 14 diesel model for the 2007 freelander2

I'm wondering if there are clones of the Ap 200 about, which have different functions. If they can't code injectors or carry out service routines like air path calibrations or other new component calibrations they're pretty useless IMO.

My IID just stopped working one day. When I last tried to get it to work, I couldn't connect to it with the PC, and whilst the phone app connects, it just says that it's busy and may be updating. There's only so long I can leave it in the OBD port, but leaving it connected for over an hour didn't achieved anything from it.

I'm tempted to send it back to Gap, but by the time I've paid for postage, then be told it's broken once it arrives, I'd be worse off than I am with it sitting in a drawer.

Maybe I can sell it as for parts only?
That’s a great point , funny though the one that doesn’t support the keys or injectors is the Autel .co.uk ,but Autel diagnosis will program keys and injectors , maybe that’s why amazon is one of the most expensive in having 25 x functions

See it also says it’s a simplified version of the Autel mx808 and have one of those and must confess is very comprehensive , alas though the software updates every 2-3 x years there asking around £200 , won’t bother paying for any updates as expect it’s just for new models which won’t effect me

I must admit that I just use SDD, as it does all I'll ever need.
I've got Pat's email. A few years ago he promised FL2 updates to programme keys and do other service routines, however those still haven't appeared, and probably never will now that FL2 are 10 years out of production.

That’s great news and so pleased for u that it worked , have seen many others pay £4-500 from a dealer so a right result u now have a functioning key
Think I put it on another thread, I got a quote from my local stealers and it was over $1,400 (£700) and I'd have to wait at least 2 weeks for a key to arrive in the country.
Plus out of curiosity on my d3 it has to be a new key and wonder if it’s the same with a FL2

Yeh, has to be a virgin key. It can only be coded once.

Holy crap mate , they certainly know how to charge that’s for sure

dread to think what a key will cost for the new models 2016+ with the relay software update , think the module has to also be replaced , cher ching 🤣

The AP200 is a bluetooth dongle plus an AP200 app for Android/IOS.

So its just like a 'standard' ELM dongle and something like the Torque app.

I don't suppose the dongle is much more than a medium to issue and read comms messages. How those messages are built or interpreted I'd imaging is all in the app. As such, the dongle can probably do anything the car is capable of doing. Its whether the App will tell it to do those things. Autel obviously have the knowledge to do a lot of sophisticated stuff in their apps, but pick and choose which functions they enable so they can charge lots for the more sophisticated users willing to pay the price, but still put enough into their cheap AP200 option so that people buy it instead of a £1.50 Ali ELM dongle and the free Torque app.
