Will I get as much power from my engine with biodiesel?
Pure biodiesel contains 5-8% less energy per gallon than petroleum diesel. Blended fuels obviously will have less of an energy loss. Some literature does indicate that other factors such as more efficient burning and better injection efficiency due to higher viscosities may counteract this energy loss. In any event, users might notice a slight power loss with biodiesel fuels

This is not correct, there is MORE energy.

Its a timing issue, the science here has not taken into consideration injection timing and the effect of different fuels.

Ideal timing for Bio and DERV is slightly different, if your timing is set in the middle of the two you get good bio & DERV combustion. People who report a loss in power could probably benifit from a timing adjustment.

I use Bio in my old 200 tdi and have noticed a slight lack of power but it is so little I can't be arsed to re time it lol. I fitted a new filter when I started using it and will fit another one after about 2000 miles just to be on the safe side but so far I'm happy except I seem to be hungry all the time with the constant smell of chips ?

The bio will still have some of the odorants from the WVO.

I used to get tandoori restaurant oil, I kid you not you could smell pakora from the exhaust.

If you used that after filtering the smell would be MUCH stronger.

Discopoo are you refering to SVO/filtered WVO or proper Bio?

Proper bio, as made by a freind, he has invested in the machine thingy and is like a mad scientist adding all his elixirs and potions lol
