hi guys

just a quick one, whats the widest tyre size you can put on a hippo? ive been offered a set of general grabber at2 but they are 235/75/15
and im sure this sounds a bit to wide for the car?????

Thanks for the reply, anyone else like to confirm if they fit or not. Been advised on another forum the deffo will NOT fit but by the previous post they might? Just need a definitive answer, don't want to buy them and can not use them

IMO they will not fit the 15" wheels think the standard size is 195/80r15 so 235 profile would be far too wide!

Got std 225x17 Synchrones on ours and there is definitely less that 8mm betwen the inner sidewall and the front strut! And these are a fairly skinny sidewall bulge + low profile. When it goes to 235X18 they get even lower profile (and less bulge)
IF the 235X75's sitting on 15" rims have a sidewall spread less than the 225X55's on 17" you may be lucky but I doubt it - I think they will be too fat and rub.
Even allowing for the difference in rolling circumference - It does really depend on how 'round' the cross section is whether it clears the strut - Anyone actually put some on?

Think it will depend on the sidewall spread (width) of the tyre on the rim.
Only starting with less than 8mm on 225x55 and getting smaller as tyre gets taller !!

i have 195/80 15s on mine ,when i enquired about wider tyres i was told that for all terrain i should stick with 195s, if i went for road biased tyres i could fit 205 as a maximum width.

I have 215/75 R15 on mine. Still have about 20mm between the tyre wall and the shock absorber. Covered 17,000 miles like this and no issues...

225 should fit as it will be 5mm wider on each side....

Regards,

Steve
