Does anyone know whether its possible to adjust the steering to stop the tyres catching the radius arms on an 83 RRC or is it a case of fitting wheel spacers?? I know you can adjust the stops on the discoveries but can't see how on the Rangie???????

Are both tyres hitting the arm? I only mention it because my offside tyre touches on full lock but not the nearside, looking closer I've bashed the track rod thing at some time and bent it.

Yes it is possible to adjust the steering stops, just had to do mine with the 33's i've fitted. if you look at the front hub assemble from the front you will see a hex head bolt, just infront of the swivel housing, adjust this out on each side, however dependant on how much adjustment is required determines wether you need to change the bolt for a longer item, i had to adjust mine quite a lot which make tight manouvering quite awkward so a longer term solution is to fit wheel spacers. while talking about wheel spacers is it possible to get longer hub studs to deal with these said spacers?

Had a look grunt and there defo catching on both sides.engmpoll i have seen the hex heads and thought they might do the job but thought i'd ask anyway. Wheels are off now ready for me to do the suspension lift this aft hopefully. We got the back done on sunday aft so just the front now, then the steering then she's about ready for an mot failure sheet i think :D
Just out of interest the tyres we have on are 265/75/16 so pretty much filling the arches now.. slight mods may be required!!

slight mods is a slight understatement, i had to take a jigsaw to the arches (very defender esque now) to get the clearance i required plus a 2" lift. followed by a ton of welding and one off arches. If any classic purist spots me there gonna lynch me up!!

I'll get the pics sorted this evening but please bear in mind its a work in progress, the front hasn't had it's 2" lift yet (still machining the bits) and the arches aren't finished yet.

pics as promised, now no laughing guys!!
