Ok here's the deal: I want a full set of the BF Goodrich Mud-Terrain T/A tyres and some black wolf rims for my 90. Anyone know where I can get the best deal on these items and exactly what specs I'd want? I have no idea what width or height they should be. If you don't mind helping out a noob, I'd love your input on this! Thanks guys :D

Simba

P.s. pointless banter also welcome ;)

i reckon someone on the tinternet should invent some kind of search type thing where you could put in what you want and bingo details would come up on the screen

sounds crazy but i fink it might just work
and why not come up with some crazy name say summit like "GOOGLE"

why exactly do you want BFG A/Ts?

I don't really mind. I just need some good offroading tyres because I've currently got the thin MOD road tyres on. I'd get stuck on slightly warm tarmac with those crappers. I've read all of the reviews for the BFG's and they seem to be highly reccommended all round?

Thanks guys, wish everyone was as helpful as you lot ;) NAAAAAAT!

depends what you want to do, different tyres for different purposes and ex mil tyres are usually pretty good (otherwise why would MOD use em  )

oh and WLM if your GOOGLE idea doesnt get off the ground you could always launch a rival site and call it something like Bing ;)

well, on his first post its T/As... which i thought he meant A/Ts?

the thing MOD tyres are quite good, I had it on my defender when we had all the snow in Jan 2010 and were quite good...

so you want mud tyres....
how much driving you doing on the roads?

Get a Landy magazine, Land Rover Owner is best. Go through all the major companies phoning up to get their best price on the deal you want then go with the cheapest.

Unless you want to retain originality I'd advise against Wolf rims. They're strong as yes but don't have a great offset so you won't get as much steering lock as say 8 spokes or modulars. Add to that the fact that most companies only offer 8 spokes or modulars in their wheel and tyre packages so they'll be what's cheapest.

If you have to have BF Goodrich muds you'll be looking at around £600ish for a set of four I'd imagine. Plenty of other manufacturers do the same tread pattern for substantially cheaper though. For example in this month's LRO MailOrder4x4 are doing a set of 4 Insa Turbo Dakars in 235/85/16 (which is what you want) on mod/8 spoke rims for £521.

255/85R16 cooper stt (mud terrain) thease are a good tyre and and loads better than the new bfg mud terrain, that size also gives you loads of diff clearnace as most people run on 235/85R16 or 265/75R16 so you wont drag you diff in there ruts

I heard if you want anything more than a 235, you need to start changing wheel arches etc. Can't I just whap some 255's or 265's on some wolf rims?
