on my disco 1 ive a set of INSA TURBO SPECIAL TRACK 265/75/16
I don't like them for road use I only really do greenlaning so change them over
when not greenlaning so want to swap them for mud terrain but wider giving
a wider stance so I can put on some arch extentions can any one help with
what sort of wheel width and tyres for a wider look please.

I really don't understand why so many people buy these Simex copies and then try and use them as road tyres??? Pretty obvious they won't be very good at it.

That aside, why do you want wider tyres? And wider arches?

You don't have to go for wider tyres to get a wider track, you could run wheel spacers or deeper off set rims.

I assume if you've done any off roading thus far, your tyres have maybe been impacting the body work? Have you trimmed the arches at all or any other body mods?

There are plenty of wider tyres, although most will be taller. So will require more body mods. You'll also start hitting some gearing issues, the Tdi should pull taller tyres, but a tweaked Tdi will do it better, but performance will be hit.

Different width rims will also make tyres sit differently, so bear this in mind when you consider what tyres you want.

As for sizes.

Well a 265 is already pretty chunky. Most off road tyres will be 285 width next, although you might find some 275's, then you are up to 305 and 315's. But you'll need to check the profile and decide on rim size, mostly likely 15, 16 or 17". Some of these tyres will be pretty big.

And plenty of sizes more common in America, these will usually be 15" rim, although many are moving to 17" as the new standard.

31.10.50 (i.e. 31" tall and 10.5" wide), this is similar to your 265's...
3x.11.50
3x.12.50
3x.13.50
3x.14.50

These will need 15x10" rims.

the wheels and tyres came with disco as a second set
just looking for a wider look Im not looking for carlos fandango look
im not to keen on spacers they don't help wheel bearings
it has had lots of mods done be previous owner so is ok on that
issue. I don't mind 15 or 16" mainly looking for a swap option
of changing my wheels and the look. I don't know what width
my wheels are they don't look that wide cant find any markings of width
on wheels

Wheel spacers will not affect the bearings any more than wide offset rims. Think about it, the bearing doesn't know.

ok wheel spacers good but they wont change my tyres which is what I was trying to get at
less aggressive tyre and more of a mud tyre (I will put up a post to swap if I can with pics)
