Today I replaced my broken bias plate.
When I took off the old one, I noticed it had been sealed into place with some sort of silicone sealant.

Should I seal the new one in place too?

I'll be putting this all back together soon (I've had to wait for parts, weather and spare time!)
It'll all be hidden behind the riveted seal soon so if its meant to have sealant can someone give me the heads up now?

Cheers :)

No, it does not need sealant. You would be better off welding up the broken plate - done properly it will be twice as strong as the new one and last forever.

Thanks for the sealant advice - I thought as much - but with it not being mentioned in any workshop manual - I just wanted to check.

I kept the old bias plate - it'd snapped clean in two.

If it happens again - I'll get that one welded up before I start the job all over again :)

I'm going to have a go at replacing my bias plate and springs. Not done it before. How do I get to it and is there anything I should look out for?

Got to love a 1pw :) Use the seach function and all will be found. Its an easy job,but a fair bit to take out to get to the part you need
