Hi guys
as some of you are aware that I'm very new in the world of range rovers, hence I keep on asking silly questions.

so here is another one

I have just bought so original 16 inch wheels for my range rover and I have been told the tyre size should be 225/65/r16

the problem is that goodridge don't do this size tyre but they do, do a 225/70/16

does anyone know if I can use this tyre or will this give me problems with clearance ?

thank you all in advance

Ian

That's a bugger then.

Depends what year your car is, if it's prior to 2001 and you get pulled doing an indicated 30 mph and they say you were over by less than 3 MPH you are ok and you can fight it. Because prior to that year speedos were allowed to be + or - 10% at 30 MPH so at an indicated 30 MPH you could be doing between 27 and 33 MPH. That is why all speed cameras are set to the MPH plus 10% plus 2 MPH. So you should not trip one in a 30 zone until you are doing more than 35 MPH. After that year all vehicles can be 10% slower than indicated but CANNOT be moving faster than indicated.

Get it looked at if it's sluggish. They are not sluggish by any means but i suppose it depends what you are comparing it with.
+1 to above, they have an odd throttle response that takes some getting used to, all the action is in the last 25% of movement, but mine certainly shifts compared to the Pajero or Galloper that I had before.

I guess it's ok I'm still getting used to driving an auto
Don't forget then to use the gear lever, holding in third can be more economical can be more fuel efficient at certain speeds as the torque converter locks at just under 40 mph instead of 50mph in top. It also stops the cable seizing up if you go through the gear positions ocasionally.

Manual selection of third or second will also give engine braking on descents.

That's interesting. I've just found a website were you can type in your reg number and it will give you the tyre size and it comes up with

255/65/16
235/70/16

So I can't see why I can't put 255/70/16 on?
As I'm guessing the 255 will just give me more tread ?

You can fit 235/70/16 if you have rims for them but not 255/70/16 different aspect ratio. Use the tyre comparison link i gave you. Your rims are to wide for 235 tyres.
