I need a set of tyres for my P38.

Want some all rounders that are reasonable comfortable and fairly long lasting on tarmac where most miles are done but also perform off road, mainly steep grass/light mud when called upon.

Does such a tyre exist as a sensible price?

Thanks,
Steve

Pirrelli Scorpions are may favourite road tire with pretty good cross country capabilities. Been all over Salisbury Plain, Wales, Surrey and Hants Lanes with them on, and never got stuck just because the tires let me down, just completely grounded on the axles.

Im also after a set and have been looking at BFGoodrich brand, Anybody got a part worn set of 16's for sale? (all terrain.)

I've got General Grabber AT2s - really impressed, good on the road, not noisy on the faster stuff and handle well in the muddy stuff too

What are s/t's Ive never heard of them? Im really after a set of A/T or M/T BFG's.

Pirelli S/T's were the original fit for RR P38's, either 255/65x16 or 255/55/18 depending on which wheels you have, and in many people's judgement (just read around here) the best for mixed road/light off-road use. P38's seem to get unsettled on many other tryes and many report tram-lining. Unfortunately they're not available anymore, unless you can find someone with old stock; they've been superseded with STR's which many don't seem to think are nearly as good (I've not tried them myself having managed to gather up a few S/T's for last replacement). But if you want opinions on what others have found works for them there are plenty of posts throughout the forum on the subject.

My two pennies - Yokohama Geolander AT/S. Less well known in the UK perhaps but quite well regarded in the States if you'll have a look at Tire Rack - Your performance experts for tires and wheels. I've a post in here with my first impressions after fitting them. All I'll add is that so far they are working exactly as advertised. Smooth, quiet, planted.

And another, related to the Coopers you're already looking into are Avon Ranger TSEs. A bit of Brit chic in that brand name too! :)
