Hello Dennis,

This unit has been mentioned a few times on here, if you search for it you will see what people think.
My personal feeling is that the best thing you can do , is find someone with a nanocom or Hawkeye and bribe them with cake.

Cheers

Great minds think alike (cant remember the rest of that saying) :)

I believe it ends with " But there is always an exception where idiots can think the same........"....LOL

Unless he has a D2 V8.....Then it should be OBDII compliant and that would work. BUT I would still suggest a Nanocom or Hawkeye....;)

Cheers

But I looked at the OP's previous posts where he states he has a TD5:p

and don't know how it slipped through, he's got a boat - yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

I bow to your Greatness and your sluethiness in determining he has a TD5........... :):)

I reckon you boat owners also have a secret handshake or something.........LOL

Cheers

Them things are over £300 I think I will have to think again. I aint paying that sort of dosh. But thanks for the help

Well worth the money if you're planning on having the motor for a while.
Pay for themselves over and over again and you can usually sell on for little depreciation.

On my Disco 2 the 3 amigo lights have come one but all three of the systems seem to be working. I just want to reset the lights to see if it happens again. I don't want to sped a fortune of a tool so what Diagnostic tools would you say to buy. I have found this on ebay is it any good £98

Thanks

Dennis
i purchased this small reader that's only designed for the 3 amigos only http://www.rswsolutions.com/index.php/discovery-ii/abs-amigo-v1-usb
i purchased mine off ebay
plug it in it reads the code and then erases the codes and warning lights ... you then plug in the reader via a usb to a laptop or PC and then read the codes

Keep an eye open for the odd one that a member might be getting rid of on the forum here - it does happen occasionally, and also keep checking ebay, they come up on there now and again too.
As has been said already, diesel Discos didn't become fully OBDII compliant until mid-2004, whereas the petrol Discos were ODBII compliant earlier than that.
Because of that, the number of compatible code readers is very limited, just four as far as we know which are fully compatible. They are Nanocom, Hawkeye, Lynx and Testbook. With the exception of Testbook, which is the main dealer's test gear, the new prices for the others is much of a muchness, about 300-400 quid, usually including one unlock code.
Other code readers might be able to give some results, but they might not be the truth. They probably won't be able to communicate with all the ECUs on the vehicle, there are more than one.
If you are lucky enough to find one that does what you want then great, but you can expect some weird results with them.

My Hawkeye was 150 quid second hand off a quite nearby landy zone chap, used it loads, cleared amigoes probably 5 times now since autumn, done everything for me!
I was also on a very tight budget

Thats well over £100 and only does the 3 amigos:eek:
he is willing to pay 98 quid for an unsure scan tool ..I do also own my self some cheap scan gauges that can read transmission abs etc I also purchased creader supposed to read landrover,,,,, it does but only engine ECU
not to sure what you mean its well over £100 if you call 1 pound and 72 pence well over well that's insane I had to double check my self ( I never added in the 77 cents )

how much are a nano or hawk eye going for retail ?

like I said above I purchased mine via fleebay not direct
