Well my 'friendly' mot tester has decided not to answer his phone so Im stuck with an SRS light.

Whats the best/cheapest code reader to read and reset this and other warning light as I dont think this will be my last.......

£400 isnt an option at the moment. Just need something to clear/read the faults to get it throught the mot

Faultmate FCR will read a clear all faults on the P38. However it is locked to your car and cannot be used on any other. Around £270.00. Afraid there are no cheap faultcode readers for the P38 systems.

hmmmmmm.....

will disconnecting the dash clocks cause the becm to throw a fit?
Why would you want to do that...???

EDIT: re-read the above...the car will fail if the SRS light doesn't come on as a bulb check with ignition on, people have tried to get round this by removing the bulb or blanking it off.....til the MoT regs writers cottoned on!

I havent had the dash clocks out yet but Im assuming they are bulbs and not led's so it will be possible to wire the SRS light to the abs light, thus both lighting up and going out at the same time?

I did this with an Evo 6 once with the AYC light to the oil pressure light as the AYC pump had failed.

Then just blank off the warning message below the mileage.

Sorry if this seems crude but I really need the car leagal asap and funds are low at the moment. Just bought the car plus moving house next week.

Can't condone it, but its your car....

But I would urge you to sort the fault at your very earliest time, the last thing you want is to be in an accident with you or loved ones in the car and the SRS fails...!

Why dont you put a post up saying!
does any one live near me ( supply address) that ha a fault coder reset tool that will let me use it if i pop round to there house with a 12 pack of beer and a bottle of wine?

some one will respond

give it a go!

I have no horn plus an srs fault so Im assuming the rotary coupler is at fault. Just bought one on ebay but I need the car legal asap.

And tbh, if Im in an accident in a 2 tonne RR, its probably whatever I hit that will need airbags, not me....hopefully

A rough location or even the name of the town you live in might be helpful........you may even get cuppa if your lucky.

and check srs bulbs there are 2 if one fails then the second one will light up and stay on!
a good indication that the main bulb has failed is if the srs light is on all the time and not flashing

The only problem with this approach is the P38 ABS light stays on until the car is driven. A little 555 timer circuit will do the trick.
