Ordered a set of Gwyn Lewis' stainless steel sumar bars. The Terrafirma HD ones & damper that I have fitted look really tatty. I'll be putting an OME damper on too.

Replaced the gearbox mounts with genuine ones, I replaced all engine mounts (genuine) & gearbox mounts last summer when I replaced the head gasket, and there's been an increased rumble since.

The ****part ones I put on look crap already and it's only done 4k miles:

It's really easy, it took me about 30 minutes, a lot of that was hunting for the right sized/style of tools in the shed.

4 nuts to undo - there's 2 17mm one atop each mount that attaches them to the brackets mounted to the t-case, the smaller mount (driver side) is a bit awkward but if you have a 17mm ratchet spanner with a swivel head it's super simple. 15mm nuts underneath on both. Or at least this is what mine had.

I used an impact gun on the 15's.

Once all undone and nuts removed, jack up the the transfer case as high as it will go, you can then wiggle the old mounts out and the new mounts in. Drop the tcase back down slowly to make sure the locating pins on the new mounts line up with the brackets, then refit and do up all the nuts.

Replacement prop with correct flange arrived back from Bailey Morris today, so tops marks to them for sorting and covering transport.

Just need to fit the bugger now - hopefully won't get a matching broken finger on the other hand.

UPDATE... fitted in lunch hour, first impressions are that the car feels smoother in conjunction with the new mounts - motorway driving to York this evening will see how it performs vibration wise.

It behaved very nicely on the motorway, none of the weird vibrations that I used to get. The tyres are slightly more skittish than the Coopers, but just need getting used to.

Forgot to mention that all the sumobar gubbins arrived from Glynn Webb yesterday, won't have time to sort it before heading off on a bit of a jaunt, but have to say I was impressed with GW's service.

They look very shiny :D

GW is a beast! I’ll be ordering more through him. The fact that he’s still working out an old workshop with old tools and still a family business makes me want support.
That damper is also why I’ll be going ome shocks before next mot. All good quality gear in the sumo bar upgrade kit :)
