Not posted here in a while, for anyone interested the engine is still going strong half a year later, although it's been doing a lot less miles in 2020 owing to it's daft owner slipping a disk.

There's a poing coming from the suspension somewhere so I suspect it might need some bushes sorting prior to MOT this year.

Hope everyone is keeping sane during lockdown.

Good to know!

I've just been lusting over this conversion this guy in the states is doing, fitting Dana 60 axles to his D2:

I guess with all the free time on peoples hands there will be a lot of interesting content showing up on youtube :D

I saw that too.

I think you might just need to swap your LT230 for a BW out of a P38 to match the diff and it should be golden.

Dying to see if you find a set, I sew some off an F350 on the Bay a few months ago but not seen any since.

Ha sorry, missed your reply - no way I'll be fitting Dana's to mine, not got the skill or time :D

Only thing I'm doing at the moment is trying to decide what new tyres to replace the STT's with that are on there - I've done way less (read zero) offroading in the last year, mainly due to back problems, so I might even go with a more road biased set.

Good to know - the STT Pro's in the size I need are only K speed rated (68mph) whereas the STT's that are on are Q (99mph)... I know it's a landrover, but I sit at 70mph in the Uk and 80mph when in France so a K rated tyre just won't cut it. Shame.

EDIT... although Craddocks seem to have a Q rated variant for sale -> https://www.johncraddockltd.co.uk/apd0087-2657516q.html

Anyone know what these are like for road noise vs the STT - found some alarming vids on youtube.

I didn't really want to move toward 33 inch, on a D2 I might have to trim the arches a bit. I've also got 3.8 ratio diffs in which move rev ranges with a 32 inch tyre back to about stock, upping the tyre sizes again will lose me a bit of low end power (it'd be about a 4.0 ratio required).

Dilemmas!

I would suggest that you find some of these tyres and measure the actual size, as they do not all measure the same even if they have the same quoted dims. You may find a bigger size might fit what you need.

Cheers

Aye very good point - not sure anyone would actually stock any nearby - but will deffo bear it in mind

They do do them in 265/75.

Just out of stock in a few places

I've probably just not looked hard enough.

Would still like to know how the STT Pro compares noise wise to the old STT - and if there really is a Q rated 265/75/16

It's always a bloody mare trying to sort tyres out :D Cheers for the input folks, I'd forgotten how helpful everyone on here is.

I wonder why they don't list them on their website - maybe they've stopped producing em?

That first link goes to STT Pro's

Second one goes to 265/70 Maxx which is 31 inch, it's 265/75's that I'd like.

Edited - sorry!

Well, in a complete about face I've pulled the trigger on some Grabber X3's :D
Excellent choice. We run them on a few trucks alongside bfg ko2, and they are more refined on road but as capable off. We dont go anywhere silly admittedly but they are a very good all around choice. Our l200 did 40k on a set which is really impressive when you balance their performance.
Edit:
Ignore me, im talking about AT3s not X3s...... be interested to see how they go, they look great.
