Help!
I have just noticed that i have a plug missing from my Bell Housing........
It is from a Td5 Engine and gearbox.
Can anyone help / advise on what part / part number i need to fill the hole?
I have looked on the internet but finding it difficult to identify.

To big for a wade plug plus its not at the bottom so it wouldnt drain completely.

has someone cut an inspection hole is this standard doesnt look like mine

There is a thread but not a very deep one!
I couldn't see it on any other pictures on the internet!
If there is a wading plug that shouldn't be in unless 'wading' i am guessing that it is not critical if it is missing......

looking at other pictures my guess is someone has cut the hole to inspect the clutch fork etc without the hassle or taking the box out etc.

It may just be the marks from the hole cutter and not a thread. If off roading you may risk a stone or sand getting in there but otherwise it should be fine if you dont go deep wading. You can buy various sizes of rubber grommet/plugs that would fit if it bothers you. Another source of such grommets is breakers yards - look in the boot of many cars and you'll be spoilt for choice.

Definitely not an original wading plug hole. You may try a threaded bung from a 200L oil drum, which may fit the thread in your housing. Alternatively you can if you can find an engine core plug that fits you can knock it into place to plug the hole.
