Hi folks, new to the board, but have lurked for quite a while.

Have a 2.5D P38 N plate. I've read a lot here about BECM problems and wondered if Irish is still the man to contact?

For the record, remote no longer operates doors and has not for a while. Code was working fine to open vehicle but am now getting RH F door open fault.

Have sprayed lock with WD40. Have also dismantled the battery using the instructions on here to try and sync key. Have a new key, but it did sync when first bought.

Any help would be most appreciated as am at point of tearing me hair out.

Was the second keyfob from ebay or land rover stealers? I think the door open display is connected to the door latch problem as the door ajar switch is within the door latch so as you say the EKA code wont work if it thinks the door is open.
 
Yes IF you have a BECM problem the IRISHROVER or RICK THE PICK are the men to trust.

However squirting some WD40 into the lock is not going to sort anything. It'll wash any loose gunge out, then leave a lovely sticky surface for even more gunge to stick to.

Your remote not working could be the BECM but before you get that far it could be the key, the R.F. receiver or the link from the receiver to the BECM.

If your EKA worked but now it doesn't then a logical place to start would be the door lock. If turning the key back and forward can enter a code then there must be some electrics in the door switch, mustn't there? You need to get into the lock mechanism and check that it's all properly connected and that the microswitches are working. Firstly you'll probably have to clean the WD40 residue away, try alcohol, and when you're finished and it's all working, lubricate the lock with graphite powder.

Have added location, which is Sunderland. Vehicle was secured at work last night. Returned this morning and code was accepted. Drove to another location, which was about 6 miles and no problem. Drove from there back home this evening and no problem for about 17 miles then fault came back on.

Have received a pm suggesting that lock should be first port of call, so that's where I'll start. Thanks for the tips above about that.

Tried vehicle today, after cleaning and fault did not come up when switching engine off. Tried fob and no luck. Tried re-sync on key, from instructions on here, and no luck. Door open RH fault did not come up either. Receiver problem perhaps?

If you have the owners manual, look at re-syncing the key, now the fault has gone it may just be that the rolling code is too far out to work without a resync.
