Hi does anybody know if Becm's are interchangeable mine is stuffed computer doesnt work, sunroof doesnt open, suspension does what it feels likes,no cruise control etc etc i have a chance of buying another 1 but it has a different part number it comes out of a 4.6 Hse the same year and model as mine so would this work if so would i have to get it reprogrammed or can mine be reprogrammed if so any idea which way is cheapest:confused:. Thanks

they are coded and you cannot just swap and go but they can be recond and returned or even clonned and cure the problems some just new a reconfigure when you plug them back in

or if you match up the power board and leave the logic board well alone you don't need to code anything:D just need to have it swaped by someone with an anti static wrist strap and knowledge of working with cmos
it need not cost 1000's

Rather than blame the BECM what you need is an accurate diagnosis, the CC and EAS faults are probably nothing to do with the BECM,and the sunroof is more likely a switch pack issue. As said the BECM can be brought back to life by swapping the top board - an easy enough job in itself - but no point if the rest of the car is the problem.

I'll go along with 8inaV and Rewmer.
Yes, components do fail on the power board but you need to check the circuits out that are giving you problems first before assuming the BECM is the culprit.
If you are EXTREMELY lucky, you may be able to get just the power board but most people, including myself will only supply a complete BECM as the logic board rarely gives problems, other than corrosion or damage. Usual signs of power board failure are the rear wash/wipe not working and spurious fault messages, especially relating to bulb and fuse failures, when everything turns out to be working o.k. in practice.
Power boards can be repaired but availability of certain components is becoming very difficult unless buyers are prepared to buy hundreds or thousands of them.

Check the power supply and earths to the BECM are all tight.
I had numerous problems and found the main power supply cable was loose. Everything now works as it should.
