Is that just one side or both? I was quoted 60 quid for one side so that isnt toooooooo bad if it is both sides.

Would be cheaper to do it for yourself though ;)

You need an E20 torx socket. A suitable pair of pliers to remove circlip, A socket for the hub bolts. A hammer, and a suitable drift (thing you use to hit the old racers out with)

Not that hard a job at all. Hardest part is getting old racers out and new racers in, as they are a VERY snug fit. Tie your caliper up and out the way to avoid damaging the brake line. Have some lithium based grease ready to grease up the new bearings

I just had one done on the rear of my 300 tdi it cost £74 inc VAT, if that helps, normaly do my own, but did not have time this time and wanted the Disco back on the road, it so easy jsut a bit of a pain and dirty.

Dont worry about the E20 torx socket, if you got a two hex 13mm socket it does the job, keep your old races and gut a grove in them then you can use the next time.

Have a look at Busters Guides, these are agreat help.

Go for it, the kit will only cost you about £20 to £25, do both sides as well, cuase the other will not be far behind, and you only spent £50, you can spend the rest on tools to save ya more money, and give that great feeling that you done somthing....

I did mine yesterday and it can be a right pain, especially if the old race is jammed on the stub axle and you have to grind it off.

It's worth reading busters guide and deciding if you want to have a go at it yourself.

like Big Stu said, see if a local member can help you out for a few beer tokens and you can give a hand and see how it's done.

£100 sounds a bit dear to me. The Geezer who quoted probably doesn't want to do the job that much, hence the higher price.

Go to a landy specialist and wheel bearings are considered easy money :D

brake disc retaining bolts are 14mm bihex, dont buy kit use rtc3429 timken or stc4382 same brg and seal ftc4785 timken are genuine and are less that a tenner each

Yeah def 13mm bi hex on the calipers, and 14mm bihex on the Disc's I just done front and rear bearings.

I think I brought both sides, ie 2 x Hub seals, 2 x Drive Flange Gaskets, and 4 x Bearings for about £25 from Landypart my local place, inc my Suffolk Landrover club discount
