BBS FCR HEVAC failure to clear fault codes

Release1.8 of the firmware for the FCR will be released very shortly to cure the problem of failing to clear the fault codes. The fault has, it would seem, been there since Rovacom times. If you read HEVAC faults with Faultmate MSV2 and then clear them in the same session it works, however if you go straight to clear faults it does not work. Since FCR uses 2 different sessions for reading and clearing, it fails.
Updated firmware will also be available for all the other kit affected I believe
It's a bit of a shame that a lot of people seem to have found the problem and complained about it on this site but no one seemsto have hit the BBS site with it apart from me, and I don't even have an FCR

Good to hear as the FCR is my prefered option over the Hawkeye

Too right we complained openly on this forum. The kit cost over £200 and did not fully work. Potential buyers need to know the pitfalls.

Seemingly it's all right for you folk with the high octane, full fat, all singing and dancing stuff (I don't sound too jealous, do I?) it's only affecting the rest of us with the cheaper alternatives.

The fault is actually present if you use the MSV in a certain way as I tried to explain, however if you read faults and then clear them in the same session it works and that is the way it's mostly used. The FCR uses basically the same firmware but reading and clearing are done as separate cycles and it fails as does the MSV is you close the HEVAC module after reading and then re-open it to clear. That is why the problem has not been spotted.
For anyone who is thinking of buying, Nanocom will be released early next year for the P38, non VIN locked and covering all P38 systems at a much lower price than the MSV or I think the Hawkeye

There have been no reported problems with the MSV HEVAC module and as the FCR uses basically the same firmware I would guess that not too much time was spent testing it

I don't think so, AllComms hardware is incapable of connecting to all P38 systems. The Nanocom covers an increasing range of vehicles including for example Ford.
I'm surprised it's being released for the P38 as it kind of cuts the legs off what what must be a very profitable product the Faultmate MSV

Come on Keith, if Storey Wilson gets the P38/Disco software sorted, at the price Allcomms comes at, it would cut the head off MSV. Colin is covering the bases. Can't blame him for that. Business is business.

Tony, I don't know how many times I have said it, the Allcomms hardware does not have the ability to connect to all P38 ECU's without a redesign, it does of course connect to some ECU's and more software will no doubt appear, but it will as far as I can see never give full coverage. I seen inside one so I reckon I know. Maybe a new version will appear, I think not. Storey has his plate full with the more profitable L322, new Disco, Evoque etc

Did not pick that bit up, have now. I did not know that. If as you say BBS are bringing out a cheaper item than the MSV, may have a look at that in new year. When is it due do you know?

Looking to get a Diag device, my fav was the FCR (with revision for the HEVAC obviously)...I may wait to see this Nanocom product....but I think it will be just at the top end of my limited budger...so may still go for the revised FCR....

Think i have read somewhere that Hawkeye is locked to the VIN, have i been seeing things? OK Keith belay that last comment, it's locked to one vehicle type, not to one vehicles VIN number.

No the Hawkeye is not locked to the VIN as enery8 cleared my fault codes with his unit.

Yeah i have just re read the bumff on it. It's locked to a vehicle type, so if you have the P38 version you can do any P38. Got that now.
