Battery Under Seat

In my 90 the battery is under the passanger seat, which is common any way i believe. However, I'm wanting to upgrade the seats to some that hold you in better, but if I did, I woundn't be able to take off the bottom bit of the seat and access the battery. As it's a truck cab, can't really have it in the back, any one got any tips to get around this? or should I just stick with the standard seats.

Stick with standard..i had nice comfy astra gte seats in mine...but if you need to get to the battery quick..i.e. fire then originals are best..no use having a comfy arse if your landy is being hosed down by the fire brigade....

I swapped back to originals!!

You could consider moving the battery though....

Im putting some other seats in mine. Was thinking about making some kind of quick release brackets so you can lift the whole passenger seat out.

If your worried about fire hazzard, then you could easily put a kill switch in for the battery.

Kill switch is ok...but doesn't get round taking whole seat out if battery goes flat and you need to swap battery quick..

Quick release seats would be a good idea..if thats legal ?? Any idea how you were going to do that?

Hmm, I like the idea of quick release seats, but not sure if clubs will like if (off road events) as i will be doing some soon!

think if you look on ebay under stockcar quick release seat brackets there should be something
a mate said about it when i was talking about doing the same in my old 90, but only use mine for laning/pay play so made up something meself (besides always got seatbelt on so cant go far )

Im not sure, not got the seats yet so will have to see. But was thinking something along the lines of pins that slide out or something. Shouldnt be too hard to do. Im sure il post it up when I get round to it.

WOuld be really handy to just be able to lift the whole seat unit out.

Flat batery and jump starting note a problem, here was my solution....5m of 35mm welding cable(x2 lengths) one pair of heavy duty jump lead clamps, one pair of Anderson (350A i think) connectors. make up the welding cables with the jump lead clamps on one end then make up the other end of the welding cables with one Anderson connector. Bolt the other Anderson connector to the outside of your battery box and drill a hole through to the battery compartment for half a meter of welding cable to pass through to secure to the battery. Terminate the other end of your half metre welding cables( from the battery) to the Anderson connector you have bolted to the outside of the battery box....put seat back.....hey presto, a removable jump lead set without removing your seat everytime.....whole lot came to about £60 and that is heavy duty better than you can buy off the shelf.

i have the same on my 90, anderson plug just behind the seat. and the other end on an old pair of jump leads

Anderson connectors get my vote too. THey can also be used to power auxillary equipment too. I fitted both small and large Anderson connectors on my landy. They are used to power jump leads, winches, urn, leccy heater, compressor etc

We all put Citroen BX seats in ours, base lifts off just like originals so that you can get to battery and locker.

I don't think that original seats when new are too bad but over time slowly colaspe, you can get new bases, foam bit's, covers etc.... but the best thing about haveing some side support is that it stops yeh right knee cap rattling against the door card

Hmm, not sure on the idea any more! BX seats looks okay, but would be a pain to clean unlike the standard Landy ones!

Landy seats are surprisingly comfy they get my vote! just get a kit from exmoor or where ever and refurb them If you thinking about bucket style seats and harnesses you really don't want them for trials events you want to be able to move about when you want to. buckets and harnesses look bling and shiny, you wanna try technical driving with them PITA for trials!
