The disco has been sat on my drive for a couple of months now waiting for a couple of bits sorting for the mot, came out to her yesterday to get a bit of charge in for moving up the drive to be welded today. She was absolutely flat as expected, got her going with a jump from my van I then left the engine running with a bit of revving and driving up/down the drive for about 40 mins or so. Came out this morning and completely dead again not even any sign of glow plug lights etc. my question is, will halfords test the battery for me even without committing to buy a new one from them? What are they like for battery prices? And could anyone advise on what spec battery I would need for my 300. I haven't ruled out alternator problems or the fact that the battery may just need charging, that's why I'm gonna get it tested. Thanks in advance

I should look online. For the price of what they were selling standard battery for I had a 1000cca 110amp numax delivered.

Few sellers through ebay. Battery brothers I think it was.

Word of warning tho....when it arrives DON'T do usual boy toy thing of tearing packaging open there n then! I did and there was slight leakage in wrapping, ruined decent pair of trousers. Do it outside as stunk house out.

Current battery is 72 a/hr, 590 en and 130 r/c. I don't know what that last one means. Currently only used for starting but have just fitted a light bar to the roof (not wired in yet) and plan for some lights on the front as well. Would I be better of with a higher cca output?

Cca wont do a thing for extra gear the main factor with running extra gear is can your aLternator put out more than you are using if it cant charge more than your using your battery is going to go flat but you will be fine with extra lights buy the biggest and best battery you can fit in the hole it is one item where buying a cheap one really wont pay off

Been to halfords and they say fooked, then try to sell me one with 510 cca for over 100 notes. Oops. I've looked at those ones on the link (thanks for that btw discool) and they've got one with 690 cca delivered for £82 or 610 cca for £62 so will probably go for one of those to save a few quid, I understand that with halfords theres a no quibble guarantee but could do with saving the dosh at the moment. Can anyone tell me how to test the alternator with a multimeter once it's fitted?

The battery will read around 12.6v fully charged and about 14 with engine running

Yeah. No problem. It will still drain down if you stick loads on it without a 110alternator . Bit it will fully charge if you are now, just take lil longer to register totally full.
